Pro Clubs: German world champions aim to win Euro Cup

The German Pro Clubs national team is one of the favourites for the title mission at the IPCC Euro Cup 2022, with Georgia waiting to kick off the group stage.

The really big and high-profile titles are played out at international level in the FIFAe World Cup or the FIFAe Nations Cup. At the heart of these prestigious competitions is the FIFA series’ Ultimate Team Mode (FUT), which gathers by far the most followers around it.

Beyond the prominent stages and the FUT action, however, other FIFA trophies are also awarded: The Pro Clubs mode, with its virtual 11vs11 nature, comes closest to real football. Quite a few experts are convinced that Pro Clubs is significantly more eSports-capable than FUT.

Group with Georgia, Belgium and Poland

Though there is no official European Championship organised by EA SPORTS or FIFA yet, the International Pro Clubs Community (IPCC) is taking matters into its own hands. At the Eurocup, the best national pro club team of the continent is sought, 16 teams compete against each other.

And just like on the real grass, the kick-off takes place in the form of a group phase, through which the country selections have to qualify for the knockout rounds. For Team Germany, the draw on 11 March resulted in the group opponents Georgia, Belgium and Poland – advancement is definitely expected.

Bootcamp for Training and Tactics

After all, Germany will compete at the Eurocup as reigning world champions; in 2021, the team secured the title at global level. The Pro Clubs national team is therefore automatically considered one of the favourites, if not the top favourite. This status has to be underlined right from the start on Wednesday at 20.30 against Georgia.

Although the structures in the Pro Clubs cosmos are still far from resembling those of the FUT scene in terms of professionalism, Team Germany is not going into the tournament unprepared: On 12 March, the selection met for a boot camp in the Saturn E-Arena XPERION in Cologne to train and work on tactics.

Europe’s football elite virtually assembled

In addition to the German team, all of Europe’s other major football nations are represented at the Eurocup: England, Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal are among those vying for the title. The quality is high, the competition fierce – the race is likely to be a close one.

The matches of the German Pro Clubs national team can be followed live on the Facebook page of Team Germany or on the Twitch channel of the Pro League. Within the IPCC, the Pro League represents the German national team, from which a large part of the squad for the mission to become European champions is recruited.
