Bitter news for Crailsheim: Season over for Shorts

The Hakro Merlins Crailsheim will have to do without the most successful thrower in the Bundesliga for a long time. Playmaker T.J. Shorts has suffered a serious injury.

Shorts tore his pectoral muscle tendon in the European Cup and is expected to require surgery, the Merlins announced on Thursday. The 24-year-old American, who is scoring 20.6 points per game this league season, more than any other player, will thus be out for the rest of the season.

“We are very saddened by this news. TJ would have more than deserved to bring his great season to a sporting end. Now we must once again stick together as a team and wish TJ a speedy recovery,” said sporting director Ingo Enskat.

With his outstanding performances, Shorts was also considered a candidate for the award as the most valuable player in the Bundesliga. Further examinations with specialists are scheduled for Shorts in the coming days.
