European Basketball Champion Dragic joins Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets have once again reacted to the departure of James Harden and strengthened themselves at the guard position. Free agent Goran Dragic signs on.

European basketball champion Goran Dragic has joined the Brooklyn Nets for the rest of the season in the North American professional league NBA. This was confirmed by his agent to several American media. The 35-year-old Slovenian, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player at the 2017 European Championships, has already played for the Toronto Raptors and the San Antonio Spurs this season.

Besides the Nets, other title contenders such as the Golden State Warriors or the Milwaukee Bucks were also said to have been interested in Dragic. In his new team, the point guard will play together with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving – and not meet James Harden, who was sent to Philadelphia in a blockbuster trade.

Veteran Dragic spent most of his career with the Miami Heat, where the crafty point guard was instrumental in the Heat’s surprising run to the Finals in 2020. In his nearly 14 years in the league, the Slovenian is scoring just under 14 points per game.
