Preliminary decision in the title race? Ibrahimovic worries Milan

If Milan lose to Inter on Saturday, the Nerazzurri could pull away. The Rossoneri have a big trump card, but probably don’t hold it.

Last summer, Inter edged out Juventus. As Italian champions, which the Bianconeri had previously become nine times in a row. And soon there could be the next changing of the guard as the Nerazzurri also go to series in Serie A.

The defending champions, who have strengthened their team with the addition of Robin Gosens in the winter, are threatening to lose ground to their rivals – in the direction of a second Scudetto in a row. It may now be up to rivals Milan to stop Simone Inzaghi’s team.

Inter is already four points ahead of both Milan and second-placed Napoli before Matchday 24. And the leaders still have a game in hand. It would be all the more important for the Rossoneri to thwart their rivals on Saturday night.

Always Ibrahimovic

The numerous omens have it all. For example, after the past eleven league derbies, Milan had not gone beyond a draw four times and had walked off the field as losers no less than six times. There was only room for a single win of their own.

The lone exception was a 2-1 win in October 2020, both goals coming from the aging Zlatan Ibrahimovic – and he is a source of concern for his employers ahead of the upcoming derby. According to Sky Sport Italia, the Swede, like fellow striker Ante Rebic, is in danger of missing the clash, which would decisively weaken the Rossoneri.

Since Ibrahimovic’s brace, no rival has managed to beat Inter in a Serie A home match. Another streak the Nerazzurri have been working on for 28 games. It is the longest since the 46 games between April 2008 and November 2010 that Milan, of all teams, had ended. Actually, a good omen, but a look at the then winning goal scorer will hurt the Rossoneri: Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
