All information about the 24 Hours of Daytona 2022: Participants, teams, dates and much more for the season opener of the IMSA SportsCar Championship 2022

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is set for another reboot ahead of the 2022 season opener. This time in the GT classes: GTLM cars are a thing of the past, with GT3 cars finally taking the reins instead.

How the organisers have managed to split the GTD-Pro and GTD classes will be revealed for the first time at the official prologue (Roar before the Rolex 24) and the following opening race, the 24 Hours of Daytona.

TV times and livestream

All fans of the IMSA Series are in good hands with the official livestream on IMSA.tv. There, the series will broadcast both the official prologue, the Roar before the Rolex 24, and the main race at Daytona live and in full. The livestream broadcasts begin shortly before the start of each race. The 24h Daytona will also be broadcast in full length with German commentary by Motorvision TV.

The move to two GTD classes has proved to be spot on, at least in the first year of the GTD-Pro: A total of no less than 61 cars were entered for the prologue already! The GTD-Pro category has 13 cars on its debut, compared to 22 cars in the GTD class. The 26 prototypes are divided as follows: seven DPi, ten LMP2 and nine LMP3 cars.

Weather forecast Roar before the 24, as of 19 January
While it’s currently pleasantly sunny in Florida with 20 degrees Celsius, there’s a blast of cold air just in time for the weekend. On Friday, the first day of the test, it will still be subtropically pleasant with a maximum of 21 degrees.

The picture changes on Saturday night. A northerly current brings rain showers and cold air, so that on Saturday it will only be twelve degrees with warm clouds. The rain disappears on Sunday, but the cold air remains. The qualifying race will be held in sunny conditions with a maximum of 13 degrees
