If it is up to Lille president Olivier Letang, Eden Hazard will play in Ligue 1 next year. Letang sees a serious opportunity to sign Real Madrid’s Belgian winger. There is currently little prospect for Hazard in Spain.
“It’s not impossible,” the French champion’s president told l’Equipe . In fact, Letang would do anything to bring Hazard back to Lille. There he played four seasons in the first team between 2008 and 2012.
“I’ll go to Spain if I need to get him,” Letang said. Although he realizes that it will be a difficult task. “It may look impossible. Logical, because Hazard is an incredibly good player with a lot of qualities. And he is a Real Madrid player with an ongoing contract.”
Hazard left Lille in 2012 as the best player in Ligue 1. At the time, the Belgian went to Chelsea, where he became a world star. However, he never reached his top level there and he struggled with a lot of injuries.
In two and a half seasons, Hazard has only made 55 appearances for the Madrilenians. Trainer Carlo Ancelotti only used him for seven minutes in the last four games. That opens a door for Lille, Letang thinks. Although more clubs seem interested in Hazard.
