Leonardo reacts to striking passages in new book by Ibrahimovic

Paris Saint-Germain director Leonardo lets two striking statements by Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his latest book slip. The Swede says there was a lack of discipline in his years at PSG and that he was recently asked to replace Leonardo.

Ibrahimovic indicates in ‘ Adrenaline: my untold stories ‘ that PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi approached him last year to become director of Parc des Princes. The 40-year-old attacker said he was given the opportunity to succeed Leonardo at PSG, but decided to extend his contract with AC Milan.

Leonardo was involved in the arrival of Ibrahimovic to PSG in the summer of 2012. In conversation with Europa1, the Brazilian was confronted with the statements of the former star player of the Parisians. “It’s annoying, but I can’t do much with it,” said Leonardo, who was director of PSG between 2011 and 2013 and returned to PSG in the same role after trips to Antalyaspor and Milan in 2019.

‘I am 52 years old and I understand Zlatan’s wish. I know him well, but I’m not one to comment extensively on this in the media. So I don’t really want to say anything about it. Does he want to become a director at PSG? Silence is the best answer to that,” says Leonardo. Ibrahimovic played for PSG between 2012 and 2016, scoring 156 goals in 180 official matches. Then followed the transfer to Manchester United.
