“We are really well-staffed”: Salihamidzic’s clear no to new arrivals

FC Bayern will start the second half of the season with the same player personnel with which the Munich side will go into the winter break after the match against Wolfsburg on Friday evening.

In the last match of the first half of the season against VfL Wolfsburg, FC Bayern had to do without a total of six players – partly due to Corona (Kimmich and Choupo-Moting), partly due to injuries (Stanisic, Coman, Goretzka, Tolisso). The personnel situation has looked worse for the record champions this season, but coach Julian Nagelsmann would always like to be spoilt for choice.

We are really well-staffed and continue to go into the season like this.

In any case, there will be no fresh personnel in Munich during the winter break, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic let slip ahead of the game against Niedersachsen. “We are really well-staffed and will continue to go into the season like this,” said the former professional in an interview with DAZN. The transfer window, which opens on 1 January and closes again on 31 January, is secondary, Salihamidzic added.

In the summer, the Munich side had signed the two Leipzig players Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer as well as Omar Richards (FC Reading). In addition, loan player Michael Cuisance returned from Marseille.
