Schlaudraff becomes sports general manager at Wolfsburg’s cooperation partner St. Pölten

Ex-national player Jan Schlaudraff becomes the new sports general manager at Austrian second-division club SKN St. Pölten.

Second-division club SKN St. Pölten has presented the successors for general manager Andreas Blumauer. With Jan Schlaudraff (Sport) and Matthias Gebauer (Business), the two core areas will be split between two people in future. They will take over their new positions at the club from Lower Austria from 3 January 2022.

“We deliberately took a little more time for the decision to fill these two positions in order to evaluate all applications as best as possible and to consider all options. With the appointment of Matthias Gebauer for business and now also Jan Schlaudraff for the sporting area, I believe we have succeeded in bringing on board two optimal candidates with whom we will continuously develop the club in the coming years,” said SKN President Helmut Schwarzl.

St. Pölten is a cooperation partner of VfL Wolfsburg, Schlaudraff is considered a close confidant of VfL managing director Jörg Schmadtke.

During his active career as a footballer, Schlaudraff played for FC Bayern München, Hannover 96, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Alemannia Aachen. After his career ended, he most recently held the post of sports director at his former club Hannover. In future, he will take care of the sporting affairs in St. Pölten. “I have been able to get a good picture of the club during my visits so far and I am convinced that we can build a successful long-term project here as a team in the future. I am delighted that from January I will be part of a team that wants to make a big difference and I am approaching the task with a very positive feeling,” said the 38-year-old German.

Matthias Gebauer responsible for economic affairs

In future, 30-year-old Tyrolean Matthias Gebauer, who most recently worked as CEO for several companies and already coached the U15s at SKN St. Pölten, will be responsible for the economic area of the management at his side. “I am very much looking forward to the new challenge and see huge potential in the entire club. In the coming weeks and months, we will bring a young and fresh wind into the club and gradually develop it further,” said Gebauer, who is motivated for his upcoming task.
