Youssoufa Moukoko is not getting going for Borussia Dortmund this season. The 17-year-old striker has picked up another muscle injury – meaning the first half of the season is over.
“Due to a torn muscle fibre, which he sustained in the U 23 match against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Youssoufa Moukoko was unable to take part in training and is out for the time being,” BVB announced later on Wednesday evening.
The BVB junior striker must continue to wait for the next step after his pre-season premieres and will be out until the end of the year. Initially, the Ruhrnachrichten had reported on Moukoko’s new injury.
The season so far has been anything but satisfactory anyway, with just six appearances in the league recorded, including only one unsuccessful starting eleven nomination in the 0:1 in Mönchengladbach. Added to that are one short appearance each in the cup and the Champions League – and last weekend’s third league match, which was the last game in 2021 for the time being.
Short return in nil against FCK
During Dortmund U 23’s 0-0 draw against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Moukoko was substituted after about an hour, now the next forced break follows. The teenager had already been absent from the professional team’s training session on Tuesday.
First a late start, then setbacks due to injury
The attacker had already started late in the summer preparation and only got the chance to show himself through short appearances on the first six Bundesliga match days. In October, he was already out for three weeks due to a muscle injury. No sooner had he recovered from this than an eye infection slowed him down.
