Operation: Kister missing Sandhausen in the long term

SV Sandhausen will have to do without Tim Kister in the long term. SVS coach Alois Schwartz reported on Monday that the defender will have to go under the knife.

Kister had already missed the 1:2 against 1. FC Nürnberg on Friday evening due to ankle problems. And the 34-year-old veteran, who has played at the Hardtwald since the summer of 2013, will miss SVS for longer than first thought. “He will have ankle surgery this week and will also be out a little longer,” Schwartz said at the press conference for Wednesday night’s make-up game at FC St. Pauli.

On the other hand, Schwartz could again count on Gianluca Gaudino at the Millerntor. The midfielder joined team training on Monday and should therefore be able to make the trip to the far north. Daniel Keita-Ruel, on the other hand, is likely to be absent as well as the long-term injured. The attacker also rejoined the team on Monday, but only completed running sessions.

Schwartz hopes for “A-note” at Millerntor – Direct onward journey to Gelsenkirchen

0:4 defeat at Darmstadt 98 at the weekend and the resulting loss of the league lead “certainly want to correct that quickly.” Especially as Hamburg are a power in front of their home crowd: “Six games, six wins and that with a goal difference of 19:3,” Schwartz counted up FC St. Pauli’s proud home record. “They will certainly have a broad chest.”

However, according to Schwartz, his team does not need to hide either. “We have already scored ten points away from home,” he reminds us, pointing out that SVS have so far scored better away from home than at home. And although the anger over the late defeat against Nuremberg has not yet completely faded, Schwartz is taking the positives with him to Hamburg: “The mentality and the character,” said the SVS coach, “that the squad showed are completely in order.” The team should take the manner of the performance with them to St. Pauli, and “then we hope that this time we can pull the A grade in our favour”.
