Left-back Nils Köhler will be absent from Chemnitzer FC “until further notice” due to pubitis. The club, with a potential replacement already in trial training, made the announcement on Thursday.
The ninth-placed team in the Regionalliga Nordost will have to do without the 28-year-old for the second time this season.
This time Köhler, who was already out for three months at the start of the season due to an Achilles tendon irritation, will have to miss out due to pubitis. “Nils’ absence again hurts us a lot. He only recently returned to full fitness after a long period of suffering, so I’m especially sorry for the boy’s setback,” commented Chemnitz manager Marc Arnold on the Warsteiner’s absence.
However, the Saxons already have a potential replacement in trial training: Angelo Mayer, who is under contract with the Munich Bayern second team until the summer, already completed his first unit with the CFC on Thursday.
“We are trying to react to the situation and have invited Angelo Mayer, a top trained left-back with regional league experience, to observe him more closely in training in the coming days,” Arnold explained this move. Mayer was initially trained at 1860 Munich before moving in-house to FC Bayern, for whom he played four Drittliga matches and 58 games in the Bavarian Regionalliga.
