“As low a CO2 emission as possible “

“FC St. Pauli will be holding their training camp in Benidorm near Alicante, which is not far from our quarters. Therefore, it was obvious for both clubs, which stand for sustainability in football, to share a plane in order to cause as little CO2 emissions as possible,” Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald, responsible managing director at Werder for this topic area, is quoted as saying on the club’s website.

“The two clubs will be training in Benidorm near Alicante”.

“As Werder Bremen are having a training camp in Spain not far from Alicante at the same time as us, it made sense to travel together,” said St. Pauli’s sporting director Andreas Bornemann. “I think we have found a sensible and resource-saving option with this.

The team of head coach Markus Anfang is preparing for the rest of the 2nd Bundesliga season near Murcia. Test matches are currently planned for 5 and 8 January, but opponents, venues and kick-off times have not yet been determined.
