Becker avoids commitment to Schmidt – Dynamo’s “uncomfortable” bus ride

After the sixth defeat in a row, the air is getting thinner for Dynamo Dresden coach Alexander Schmidt Sporting director Ralf Becker avoided making a statement about the tainted coach shortly after the 1:2 defeat in Kiel

The horror series continues: The 1:2 at Holstein Kiel on Friday meant Dynamo Dresden’s sixth consecutive defeat in a must-win match with a goal difference of 3:13. After a strong start to the season, the promoted team has now slipped to 14th place, just one point ahead of the relegation places. In addition, they lost against St. Pauli in the DFB Cup. The situation is precarious – especially for coach Alexander Schmidt, who only took over in April and led Dynamo into the 2nd Division.

Although the promoted team took the lead in Kiel with a defensive approach, it gave away the victory in the second half and once again left the field as losers. “Of course it hurts when you lose 1-2,” said sporting director Ralf Becker, who praised the team’s fighting attitude on Sky shortly after the game – but avoided making a statement about Schmidt. “We are all disappointed for the time being,” said Becker. “Now we have an eight-hour bus ride ahead of us”, which will be “uncomfortable”. Only on Saturday will they “sit down together in peace and discuss the situation”.

The upcoming international break will also allow for a longer analysis. Dresden will host Fortuna Düsseldorf on 21 November. When asked if Schmidt would be on the sidelines, Becker simply replied: “Now we have to let that settle down. Then we will calmly discuss how we will approach this in the future.”
