Next injury: Leverkusen also miss Bakker for weeks

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have to cope with the next loss of a regular player. Left-back Mitchel Bakker will also be absent for several weeks.
Bakker stepped on the ball in the final phase of the game during the Werkself’s 0:2 defeat to VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday and had to be substituted in the 83rd minute. Bayer 04 announced on Monday afternoon that the new signing from Paris St. Germain had suffered bone oedema in his left ankle, as well as a torn capsule and a tear in his left lateral ligament. The club estimates that he will be out of action for four weeks.

In Wolfsburg, Bakker was replaced by compatriot Daley Sinkgraven after his injury, who will now probably get more playing time. New signing Piero Hincapie has also occupied the left-back position this season and could be considered as a replacement.

Bakker is already the third Leverkusen regular to miss out to coach Gerardo Seoane recently due to injury. Charles Aranguiz and Patrik Schick are also out for several weeks. In addition, Karim Bellarabi, who has to take a break due to a torn muscle fibre, as well as Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Julian Baumgartlinger, both of whom are long-term injured, are also out of action.
