Hoffenheim must not compete in “administrative mode”

On Wednesday (7pm), TSG 1899 Hoffenheim’s footballers can clinch a place in the Champions League group stage against FC Rosengard. Hoffenheim coach Gallai, however, warns against the Swedish record champions.

“We must not make the mistake of playing in administrative mode on Wednesday. We can expect an opponent at the top level who has outstanding players in their ranks,” Hoffenheim’s coach warns on the TSG website. “We stung a bit of a hornet’s nest with the 3-0 win in the first leg,” he describes the away success in Malmö.

The 42-year-old coach also wants to play bravely in the return match and put Rosengard under pressure. In the Dietmar Hopp Stadium, however, he will have to do without Isabella Hartig and Paulina Krumbiegel, as in the first leg. Gia Corey, who returns after muscular problems, could be an option again. If they advance against Rosengard, the TSG women would play in the Champions League for the first time ever.

At the same time, the VfL Wolfsburg women’s footballers are also trying to make their entry into the top flight perfect. After a 3:2 victory against Girondins Bordeaux in the first leg, the VfL wants to enter the Champions League in France. Only FC Bayern München, the German champions, are seeded for the group stage.
