US Open: Men’s Quarter Final Preview Including Betting Odds

Roger Federer has crashed out of the US Open with a shock defeat to John Millman. Ranked 55th in the world, Millman pulled off a memorable victory against Federer in a match where two sets went to a tiebreaker. After Federer had taken the first set 6-3, Millman hit top gear to narrowly beat him, with the next three sets going his way: 7-5, 7-6, 7-6.

Now Millman has earned a place in the quarterfinals where he plays this year’s Wimbledon champion, Novak Djokovic.

Here is the full draw for the QF stage:

Del Potro vs. J. Isner

        Del Potro

Isner has been playing well in the tournament and the extra motivation of having a home crowd behind him will be a big advantage. Del Potro is seeded 3rd for good reason though, so this matchup is likely to be a very close one.

Betting odds – Del Potro to win 1/3  Isner to win 23/8

Nadal vs. D. Thiem

Current world No.1 Nadal is the favourite for this encounter. In the previous 10 matches between the two players, Nadal has won 7. The last match between them was the final of Roland Garros, which Nadal won 6-4, 6-3, 6-2.

Betting odds – Nadal to win 3/10  Thiem to win 58/19

Cilic vs. K. Nishikori

Cilic

In head to head results, Nishikori has the edge over Cilic, having won eight matches to Cilic’s six. Their most recent match was the QF at Monaco, where Nishikori won by two sets to one. Cilic played well to beat Goffin yesterday and it’s is looking like he will go on to win this match.

Betting odds – Cilic to win 5/8  Nishikori to win 6/4

Djokovic vs. J. Millman

Djokovic

After Millmans’ heroics against Federer, it is quite unlikely that he can pull off another giant–slaying. Djokovic is having a good year and is looking in great shape to pick up another title here.

Betting odds – Djokovic to win 1/2  Millman to win 13/1
