There are plenty of transfer rumours swirling around regarding Chelsea players right now, with Hazard, Courtois and Willian all being linked with transfers. Willian is being eyed up by La Liga giants Barcelona for a move that most players in the world would jump at.
For most Brazilian players, their dream is to one day play for Barcelona or Real Madrid, so it could be a very difficult opportunity to turn down for Willian. He suffered an indifferent season often left on the bench by Conte, which has probably heightened his desire to move away from Chelsea.
With Conte now departed, his game time could improve under the new manager but that might not be enough for the player, as Chelsea will not be playing Champions League football next season.
Pedro: Worried that Willian’s career will stall at Barca
Whilst Maurizio Sarri will no doubt be doing his utmost to keep Willian, another person trying to persuade him not to make the move is his Chelsea teammate Pedro. If anyone is in a good place to advise players on whether to sign for Barca, it is Pedro who spent 11 years at the club. Pedro is concerned that Willian would not be guaranteed much playing time at the Nou Camp, similar to his own experience there.
Manchester United also want Willian
Manchester United are also in the mix for Willian, with his previous manager Mourinho being a big fan of the Brazilian. Given that Mourinho wants him so much, he would expect to be a regular starter at the Old Trafford club.
Willian is looking to kick-start his career after he started life in the Premier League so well. He has proven that his style of play fits well in the Premiership, so moving to Barca would be a bigger risk than moving north to Manchester. He is in a position that most footballers would be envious of – choosing between two of the biggest teams in the world and a direct choice between the two best leagues.
