Harry Kane is making a comeback at Bayern Munich in time for the end of the year after his muscle fiber tear.
The current situation before the top match against RB Leipzig may seem almost familiar to Bayern Munich, although not nearly as bad as in the spring. In the last round of the season, Munich had lost in Leverkusen, in Rome and in Bochum, announced the premature separation from coach Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season – and then had RB Leipzig as a guest.
Now the situation before the next clash with the Saxons is not yet serious, but it is definitely dangerous again – as Joshua Kimmich himself said after the 1-2 defeat in Mainz. The league leaders cannot afford to slip up again, otherwise they may face an uncomfortable Christmas after all.
Without Kane, Bayern were knocked out of the cup
In February, it was Harry Kane who scored a brace to secure a 2-1 home win over Leipzig. Will the top scorer be able to fix things on Friday evening too? Or has to fix them?
At least his return is imminent. After suffering a “small muscle fiber tear” in Dortmund (1:1), Kane completed parts of the team training at Säbener Straße for the first time this Monday. Without the Englishman, Bayern were knocked out of the cup by Leverkusen (0:1) and allowed their once comfortable lead over their pursuers Bayer to shrink to four points.
The 31-year-old is therefore urgently needed, especially with the wingers’ persistent lack of form. Leroy Sané scored again in Mainz, but as in previous months, there was hardly any danger down the wings. Kingsley Coman (torn muscle) is still out injured, as is Serge Gnabry (knee problems). Michael Olise, after his good performance in the 5-1 win against Donetsk, was largely absent again.

Kane not only gives the Bavarian offense more impetus as a finisher, he also connects them as a player opener. Another encouraging sign for Bayern: Alphonso Davies also completed parts of the team session again for the first time. The Canadian, who has improved during this first half of the season, had suffered a torn muscle against Heidenheim in the 4-2 defeat.
