WWE giant surprises with change

The wrestling market leader opens the new “transfer window” with an initial roster switch: The returning Braun Strowman is moving from RAW to SmackDown.

With the announcement of a “transfer window” last week, WWE held out the prospect of new moves between its three rosters – and now the first switch has been made.

At the latest episode of the TV show Friday Night SmackDown, former Universal Champion Braun Strowman made his comeback after a long injury break and will now be part of the Friday show instead of the Monday show RAW.

Braun Strowman moves to SmackDown

Strowman, who had been out of action since the end of September due to a hernia – sustained in the Last Monster Standing Match against Bronson Reed, who is now also injured – turned out to be an unannounced “Mystery Opponent” of Carmelo Hayes at SmackDown and finished him off within a short time. The US commentary team around Michael Cole reported that the “Monster among Men” would henceforth be permanently based at SmackDown.

Another piece of news announced at the show: Instead of the injured Jade Cargill – whose absence was explained by a car attack – Naomi takes Bianca Belair’s place as Women’s Tag Team Champion. This was decreed by General Manager Nick Aldis in a backstage segment – and he made a quick title defense by the new champion duo a condition for next week.

At the end of the show, there was a final hype for the TV special Saturday Night’s Main Event, which returns tonight: Kevin Owens, challenger to WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, attacked him with his title belt.
