The DKV was awarded the contract for the event in May after the original organizer Ukraine withdrew.
The 2026 European Karate Championships will take place in Frankfurt’s ice rink. This was announced by the German Karate Association on Monday. The DKV had been awarded the contract for the event after the original host Ukraine withdrew in May. The competitions should have actually taken place in Kiev, but the Ukrainian federation had returned the European Championships because of the war.
The 61st European Championships will be held from May 20 to 24, 2026. The European Para-Karate Championships will also be held. After the World Championships in 2000 (Munich) and 2014 and the European Championships in 2003 (both in Bremen), the DKV will host a major event for the fourth time since the turn of the century.
The home stadium of the Löwen Frankfurt team from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) will have space for 6,000 spectators at the European Championships. A congress of the organizer, the European Karate Federation (EKF), will also be held as part of the European Championships.
