LoL: SK Gaming is leaving the Prime League – but remains loyal to the LEC

SK Gaming will no longer be playing in the Prime League in the future. However, the LEC roster is not giving up the Cologne eSports organization.

“An important chapter in our history” is coming to an end, SK Gaming announced in an official statement. The chapter in question is their participation in the Prime League in League of Legends (LoL). The Cologne-based eSports organization will no longer be competing there in the future. The statement does not reveal exactly what lies behind the decision.

SK Gaming returned to the competitive DACH LoL scene in 2018 and “contributed to the growth of the scene. Over the years, we have experienced incredible moments, competed against some of the best in the region, developed talent and built an amazing community. From the Premier Tour to Summoner’s Inn League, from narrowly missing out on the EU Masters championship to triumphing in the 2023 Summer Split.

Meanwhile, the team that will fill the vacant spot has already been determined. As SK Gaming announced, Hub (H) from Hannover will participate in the future. However, the withdrawal from the DACH gaming area does not mean a complete withdrawal from LoL. Instead, the “commitment to League of Legends is stronger than ever.” In the future, the plan is to focus all resources on the LEC roster.

As for the German community, SK Gaming wants to stay connected to them “through initiatives such as youth development, co-streams, watch parties and special events”.
