Dani Olmo on the verge of a comeback: Flick welcomes training trio

FC Barcelona face a clash with FC Sevilla – and could potentially call on three key players, including summer signing Dani Olmo.

This La Liga season is not yet his: Since his expensive transfer from RB Leipzig to FC Barcelona, including obstacles, Dani Olmo has only played three games in the Spanish top flight and none in the Champions League.

To be more precise: After his brilliant start under coach Hansi Flick – three games, three goals – the Spanish international and European champion had a knee tendon injury.

But now he is on the verge of a comeback: as reported by Marca this Thursday, Dani Olmo has trained with the team. Not the entire session, but a good part of it. The injury from the Girona game on September 15 seems to be overcome. However, it is not known whether the powerful offensive man will already be part of the squad for the game against Sevilla this Sunday. But Dani Olmo should be back on the pitch again soon.

Lamine Yamal and Lewandowski also in action

Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, who has already scored nine times in ten La Liga appearances, have also returned to training in Catalonia.

The Barcelona club’s flagship product and home-grown talent had recently sustained a muscle strain in his left thigh. The left-footed player, who has long been a key player for both the national team and the club, was injured in Spain’s 1-0 Nations League win over Denmark. However, it is quite possible that FCB coach Flick will only use Lamine Yamal in doses at the weekend – after all, there are two big games coming up. On the one hand, the Champions League clash with Flick’s former club Bayern Munich on Wednesday, and on the other hand, the Clasico against champions and pursuers Real Madrid on Saturday (also 9 p.m.).

The same could apply to Lewandowski. The Poland international only came on from the bench in the wild 3-3 draw against Croatia in the Nations League due to the load control – and then had to take a knee hit in a hard tackle. But “Lewy” gritted his teeth, finished the match and trained with FC Barcelona again this Thursday. Any doubts about his ability to play in the upcoming matches should now be dispelled.
