Yamal beats Mbappé: Barça youngster named La Liga Player of the Month in FC 25

Lamine Yamal was recently named to the Team of the Week in EA SPORTS FC 25. Now he has received the next honor: he is La Liga Player of the Month. He beat another superstar – from Real Madrid – in the vote.

Lamine Yamal was disappointed at the launch of EA SPORTS FC 25. “They gave me a bad card, only an 81! I would increase my pace – and my dribbling,” the youngster said on the Spanish TV show El Hormiguero.

Just a few weeks later, the youngster’s wish has come true – at least in the form of special cards. After his first inclusion in the Team of the Week, he has now won the Community Player of the Month vote in Spain.

Major upgrades at a major price

Along with a small trophy, the European champion receives a special item as Player of the Month (POTM) in Football Ultimate Team by EA SPORTS FC 25. Compared to his standard gold card, which he criticized, speed and dribbling each increase by six points. All other main categories receive a seven-point upgrade. The bottom line is an overall rating of 86 – the highest in his FUT history so far. Three-star weak foot and no new playstyles are certainly the item’s weaknesses.

Those who want the card traditionally have to complete Squad Building Challenges (SBC) to do so. These are said to cost around 215,000 coins; a total of four tasks have to be mastered:

Tasks of the Yamal-POTM-SBC

  • FC Barcelona: Min. 84 rating, one FC Barcelona player.

  • Spain: Min. 85 rating, one player from Spain.

  • La Liga: Min. 86 rating, a player from La Liga.

  • Top Form: Min. 87 rating, a player from the Team of the Week

Success in the Clasico

In exactly 20 days, the Clasico between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona will take place at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. It is highly likely that it will also be the encounter between the second and first in the table. Yamal has already won a duel in advance by being voted POTM. Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé was also up for selection alongside Giovanni Lo Celso and Carlos Vicente.

The new superstar of the Madrilenians contributed five goals – including a brace – and one assist in September. Yamal scored a brace and two assists last month. Based on the numbers alone, the award seems rather fortunate. Especially since Lo Celso (five goals, a brace) was a third hot contender in the race.
