Filip Kostic is on the verge of a move to Fenerbahce Istanbul. The traditional Turkish club confirmed an agreement with Juve, but some details still need to be clarified
Fenerbahce Istanbul have announced that they have reached an agreement in principle with Juventus Turin regarding the transfer of Filip Kostic. The 31-year-old is to be loaned out, but the medical check and further transfer negotiations with the player’s side are still pending.
It is nothing new that Kostic, who once reached new heights in the Bundesliga, particularly with Eintracht Frankfurt, and won the Europa League with the Hessians in 2022 (5:4 in the final against Glasgow Rangers), does not have particularly good sporting prospects in Turin.
Although the rail-track player now also has 66 games in Serie A to his name, he is not needed under Juve’s new coach Thiago Motta. The 42-year-old has completely dispensed with Kostic this season, sending him a clear signal that a change of scenery is in order

In recent weeks, there have been repeated transfer rumors in connection with the 64-time Serbian international, who missed the last European Championship in Germany due to a ligament injury in his knee. This injury is now also likely to play a role. Fenerbahce and their head coach José Mourinho obviously want to make sure that the player is fit and ready for action.
If Kostic passes the obligatory medical check, he will be loaned out for a year. According to media reports, Fenerbahce also have an option to buy the 31-year-old. Kostic would play alongside his former national team captain Dusan Tadic (35) on the Bosphorus. Other players who could help him acclimatize would be the Bosnian Edin Dzeko and Croatia’s national goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic – after all, they share cultural and linguistic similarities.
