Zembrod and Fießer strengthen Toppmöller’s coaching team

With Xaver Zembrod and Jan Fießer, Eintracht have signed two new assistant coaches in time for the start of training on the pitch this Wednesday. One of them is an old acquaintance of head coach Dino Toppmöller

The name Zembrod had been circulating in Frankfurt for some time. As the second half of the season progressed, it became apparent that Toppmöller’s coaching team would be joined by an experienced coach to relieve the pressure on the head coach. The 57-year-old Zembrod is an obvious solution, as he has already worked with Toppmöller in Leipzig and at Bayern Munich. At the time, both worked as assistant coaches under Julian Nagelsmann.

Fießer returns to Eintracht

According to information, Jan Fießer will also return to Eintracht. The 37-year-old played for SGE as a youth player and later worked as a coach at the Hessen club’s youth training center, coaching the U17s, among others. In recent years, he initially worked as an assistant coach under Thomas Letsch (55) at Vitesse Arnhem, and in 2022 they signed on together at VfL Bochum. VfL parted ways with the coaching duo at the beginning of April

Toppmöller brought Erwin Bradasch (43) and Stefan Buck (43) with him as assistant coaches a year ago. It is not yet known whether either of them will leave the coaching team following the appointments of Zembrod and Fießer. As the first session on the pitch will take place on Wednesday after the performance tests on Monday and Tuesday, the decisions are likely to be communicated by then. Changes are also planned in the analyst team

Rumors surrounding Schwegler and Fernandes

The “Frankfurter Rundschau” also reports that there are plans to create a new position (technical director) as a link between the professional and coaching team, sporting director Timmo Hardung (34) and sporting director Markus Krösche (43).

Possible candidates include the Frankfurt ex-professionals Gelson Fernandes (37) and Pirmin Schwegler (37). Fernandes is FIFA’s Director for Africa, while Schwegler is Director of Professional Football at TSG Hoffenheim. However, it is questionable whether these names are not too big for a position below sports director
