The storylines on WWE RAW continue in turbulent fashion – capped off by a title change. The upcoming World Title match gets an exciting stipulation
New tag team champions, an exciting new clause in the upcoming World Title match and new topics of conversation surrounding the sinister Wyatt Sicks: the storyline action on WWE’s Monday Night RAW continues in turbulent fashion.
Another eventful episode of the show ended on Monday with a title change – which appears to be a harbinger of something even bigger to come.
The RAW main event saw former World Tag Team Champions The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) put their belts on the line against Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh.
Balor and McDonagh ended up winning the belts with double help from Women’s Champion Liv Morgan, who first wrestled the title match from the naive R-Truth as the “Femme Fatale” and then turned on him during the match, helping Balor and McDonagh win the titles.
Morgan continued her weeks-long attempts to get the male members of Judgment Day on her side – presumably to drive a wedge between them and her injured rival Rhea Ripley. In recent weeks, Morgan has been ensnaring Ripley’s (scripted) boyfriend Dominik Mysterio in particular, and now things got even more murky when World Champion Damian Priest spotted Morgan coming out of the Alliance locker room – where only Balor was present besides her.
Is Damian Priest leaving Judgment Day?
The question of whether Judgment Day will soon break up also arises due to another development: Priest’s World Title challenger Seth Rollins persuaded the “Archer of Infamy” to up the ante for their match at Money in the Bank.
Rollins offered Priest that if he lost, he would never challenge him again – in exchange for agreeing to leave Judgment Day if he lost. Priest chimed in, saying “They need me more than I need them” – a phrase that has the potential to cause entanglements even if Priest were to win.
The exchange between Priest and Rollins ended with King of the Ring winner Gunther appearing and declaring that at MITB, let the best man win – whoever it is will be dethroned by him at SummerSlam in early August.
Drew McIntyre and Wyatt Sicks make an appearance
The other big RAW storylines continued on the night as Drew McIntyre returned a week after his supposed layoff and taunted his rival CM Punk, who he surprised and hospitalized on SmackDown. As a hunting trophy, he presented Punk’s bracelet with the names of his wife AJ Lee and dog Larry – which made the matter even more personal
The mystery surrounding the Wyatt Sicks, who debuted last week and continue the legacy of the tragically deceased Bray Wyatt, was also continued: The demonic Sister Abigail (Nikki Cross) reappeared and presented commentator Michael Cole with a package containing a videotape,
Cole handed it to the production team – and it turned out to contain a clip of Wyatt’s brother Bo Dallas talking to his masked alter ego Uncle Howdy, the leader of the Wyatt Sicks. Asked by Howdy about his feelings on Wyatt’s death and whether he wasn’t “exploiting his legacy,” Dallas said he admired his brother, had always wanted to be like him and that it had been a lifelong dream for him to stand by his side in WWE and “rule the world” with him.
The pain of losing Wyatt was indescribable and he felt like a “human mausoleum”, a “nobody”, while what his brother had built was in danger of being forgotten. Dallas and the diabolically grinning Howdy then concluded by saying that they had now ensured that Wyatt would be remembered.
Side note: Chad Gable, who was seemingly “shot” by the Wyatt Sicks, was back on RAW and qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match by defeating Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed. Sister Abigail’s appearance immediately followed his match – Gable then turned to the Alph Academy for help, who had dropped him last week. He then ran into the Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile at the end of the segment – which seemed to confirm the rumors that they will form a new faction around Gable.
