Talks between Brighton and Hürzeler – St. Pauli have the final say

Will Fabian Hürzeler leave FC St. Pauli before the 1st Bundesliga matchday after promotion? The chances of this happening are increasing, as there have been talks between the 31-year-old and Brighton. However, Hamburg have the final say

It had already become known on Friday that Fabian Hürzeler is in the sights of Brighton & Hove Albion. He is said to be the Seagulls’ top candidate to succeed Roberto de Zerbi, whose contract was terminated by mutual agreement. In the meantime, an exchange has also taken place between Hürzeler and the English first division club.

It is well known that Hürzeler has a soft spot for English soccer and that his playing style is very similar to that of de Zerbi. In the past, Hürzeler has repeatedly watched matches in Brighton and has openly cited the 44-year-old Italian as a role model. A commitment to the Seagulls would certainly have a certain appeal for Hürzeler.

St. Pauli has the last word

However, nothing happens without St. Pauli, as the recently extended contract with the coach does not include an exit clause. Therefore, the Hamburgers have the reins of action in their own hands. However, it is also clear that a coach who has this opportunity and apparently also the desire for a change will be hard to keep. At what price, however, can be dictated by the Bundesliga promoted team.

Club president Oke Göttlich and sporting director Andreas Bornemann are free to negotiate the transfer fee. For a Premier League club, this could reach historic dimensions for the club. Should the transfer actually go ahead, Hürzeler would become the youngest Premier League coach in history at the age of 31.
