Ludwig Kaiser is starting to take off as a singles wrestler in WWE. With a triumph over a former champion, he gains momentum for his home match on RAW this summer
The first major WWE event in Germany is less than three months away – and the local hero is already getting a tailwind.
On the latest edition of the TV show Monday Night RAW, the German wrestler Ludwig Kaiser celebrated his biggest victory to date with the wrestling market leader: In a spectacular and physically intense opening match of the show, he defeated the former WWE champion Sheamus.
WWE RAW: Ludwig Kaiser beats Sheamus
The Pinneberg-born Kaiser, son of German Catch legend Axel Dieter, was redefined in WWE a few weeks ago: He turned on his previous partner Giovanni Vinci and is now a singles wrestler instead of a tag team wrestler.
It has now become obvious that this is also about strengthening the 33-year-old for the home match Bash in Berlin on August 31: Kaiser attacked the “Celtic Warrior” from Ireland even before the official start of the match and then focused on Sheamus’ knee, which was weakened in the process – which ultimately proved victorious when he was able to shoulder him after kicking it.
The not-so-fair way Kaiser picked up the win left the door open for a rematch, possibly at the next big event, Clash at the Castle on June 15.
Clash at the Castle: Three title matches are scheduled
Three matches have already been confirmed for the event in Glasgow, Scotland: WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will once again face AJ Styles – after the latter trapped and attacked him with a fake retirement on SmackDown on Friday.
In two more title matches, two local Scottish heroes go for belts: Drew McIntyre challenges World Champion Damian Priest, Piper Niven WWE Women’s Champion Bayley. Austrian Gunther, Kaiser’s longtime ally in the Imperium group, will face the then reigning World Champion after his King of the Ring victory at SummerSlam on August 3.
