After the opening scare: Bayern wins clearly against Ludwigsburg

Bayern surprisingly lost Game 1 of the series against Ludwigsburg. The title contenders gave the right response to the defeat on Whit Monday

Title contenders Bayern Munich have equalized against MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in the quarter-finals of the playoffs. The club from Munich won the second game of the best-of-five series against the Swabians by 83:67 (43:33) in front of its home crowd on Monday.

After the surprising defeat in the first game, the score is now 1:1. The next two games will be played in Ludwigsburg. The best scorers for Munich were Carsen Edwards with 21 points and Silas Melson for Ludwigsburg with 20 points.

The home side initially had difficulties getting into the game. Ludwigsburg played lively, Munich shot poorly. It was not until the end of the first period that Bayern regained its composure and took the lead for the first time. The cup winners then continued to play with concentration, increased their shooting percentage and extended their lead. Ludwigsburg, on the other hand, now had its own problems in offense.

Munich went one better after the break. However, the visitors believed they had a chance after their opening win in overtime and never let up. Despite trailing by 15 points after the third period, Ludwigsburg continued to play with commitment and was able to reduce the deficit time and again. However, Bayern deserved to win in the end after an evenly poised final quarter.

Ulm also manages to equalize

After losing its opening game, ratiopharm Ulm also defeated Würzburg Baskets 100:64 (50:39) in the second quarter-final match. The match was initially evenly poised. Neither team was able to gain an advantage. That changed in the second quarter. Ulm hit around 80 percent of its two-point shots and went in at half-time with an eleven-point lead. The home side continued to play at this level. Ulm also had a clear advantage under the basket and Würzburg had no chance. The best scorer for Ulm was L.J. Figueroa with 21 points.
