Second award of the season: Würzburg’s Livingston II is also the BBL’s MVP

He is not only the best offensive player of the season, he is also the MVP: Otis Livingston II of the Würzburg Baskets has been named the BBL’s Most Valuable Player

Otis Livingston II of the Würzburg Baskets has been voted the most valuable player (MVP) of the current season. This was announced by the BBL on Friday. In the vote by the captains and assistant coaches of the 18 clubs as well as selected journalists, the 27-year-old point guard relegated Tommy Kuhse of Rasta Vechta and Kevin Yebo of Niners Chemnitz to second and third place. Livingston II received 52 percent of the votes, Kuhse 25 percent and Yebo 23 percent.

Livingston II came to Würzburg from medi Bayreuth before the current season and impressed straight away. The American averages 20.9 points and 5.6 assists with a shooting percentage of 51.2% from the field and a strong 46% from the three-point line. His 42 points at Tigers Tübingen in January were the highest in the league since 2003. He broke the 20-point mark in 17 of his 33 league appearances and the 30-point mark three times.

Livingston II is thus the successor to T.J. Shorts II, who won the MVP award in the previous season. With Würzburg, he is currently in fourth place in the main round table and has already qualified for the play-offs.

Second award for Livingston, third for Würzburg

“I am very grateful for this award, this recognition means a lot to me. Our coaches, my teammates and I have worked hard for this, it’s also a success for the whole team. Thanks also to everyone who voted for me. There are a lot of good players in this league who deserve this award,” said Livingston II.

It is already the second award in the current season for the 6-foot-8 point guard – only five other players before him have achieved this feat – and the third for the Würzburg team. Livingston was also named the league’s best offensive player and Javon Bess the best defender
