The latest weather forecast for the sixth race weekend of the 2024 Formula 1 season at the Miami International Autodrome
There are crucial questions on every Formula 1 2024 race weekend: What is the weather forecast? Can we expect a wet track on site? Do we need intermediates or even rain tires? Or will it simply remain consistently dry from practice through qualifying to the race and dry tires will suffice? In short, what do the drivers around Nico Hülkenberg, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have to be prepared for?
In order to answer these questions, our editors keep a close eye on the weather at the Formula 1 venues a few days before the start of the tests or race weekends. And as the event progresses, this preview article is constantly updated with new weather information such as temperature in degrees Celsius, wind strength, cloud cover and expected precipitation for the individual days of each weekend.
The result is the most accurate weather forecast possible for the respective Grands Prix of the 2024 Formula 1 season. However, all information is subject to change, as some motorsport venues such as Spa-Francorchamps or the Nürburgring are known for having particularly changeable weather that cannot always be accurately forecast. Precipitation can also occur there without warning.
The next time Formula 1 takes to the track in Miami will be from May 3 to 5 for the Miami Grand Prix, the sixth race of the year.
The current weather forecast for the race weekend in Miami:
Formula 1 is expecting a sunny race weekend with summer temperatures in South Florida. Isolated rain showers cannot be ruled out, but are also not very likely. The forecast in detail.
Friday (May 3) starts sunny, with a few harmless clouds moving in during the day. Rain is not expected with a 24 percent chance of precipitation, especially as only a few weather models are predicting rain at all. Temperatures will reach highs of 29 degrees Celsius.
The wind will be moderate with average speeds of around 20 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h from the east. This means a tailwind when braking for turn 11 at the end of the long straight, but this will not have a decisive impact on the cars’ downforce.
On Saturday (May 4), the sun will be joined by frequent clouds in the sky. In the afternoon hours of qualifying, the probability of precipitation increases to 50 percent, but large amounts of rain are not forecast. Overall, the precipitation forecast is still uncertain. As on the previous day, temperatures will reach a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius. The wind will continue to blow from an easterly direction.
The forecasts for Sunday (May 5) paint a similarly uncertain picture. Most weather models expect a sunny day with only harmless clouds, while others predict isolated light showers during the course of the day. With a 44 percent chance of precipitation, the forecast is again uncertain.
Temperatures will rise to 28 degrees during the day. The wind will continue to blow from the east with average speeds of around 20 km/h, gusting up to 35 km/h.
Note: This forecast will be updated several times during the week!
