Autosport, hires Rebecca Clancy as editor-in-chief – Ben Hunt joins team in June
Rebecca Clancy has been appointed editor-in-chief of Autosport, Mike Spinelli, editor-in-chief of Motorsport Network, announced on Wednesday
Clancy’s appointment takes effect April 29. A lifelong follower of the sport, Clancy moves to Autosport from The Times, where she has been motorsport correspondent for the past seven years.
Not only covering motorsport, Clancy has also reported on other sports such as rugby, athletics and tennis. Before moving to the sports team, she worked in the news and business departments. And before joining The Times, Clancy worked at The Telegraph and investment magazine The Financial Times.
“I am honored to lead this esteemed motorsport brand into this new era,” said Clancy on her appointment as Editor-in-Chief of Autosport. She announces: “Together with our team of dedicated journalists and content creators, we will push boundaries and ignite the passion of fans worldwide.”
Mike Spinelli adds: “I’m delighted to welcome Rebecca to Autosport. Her experience in storytelling from the paddock, her deep knowledge of Formula 1 and her passion for motorsport are the foundation for an exciting vision for this prestigious brand. I can’t wait to see how she will lead Autosport into its 75th anniversary next year and beyond. “
Ben Hunt moves from The Sun
In addition, leading Formula One journalist Ben Hunt will join Autosport with effect from June 4. Hunt has worked in motorsport for over twelve years, most recently at The Sun, where he was Formula 1 correspondent and motorsport columnist.
Hunt is the author of ‘Growing Wings: The Inside Story of Red Bull Racing’ (2024) and ‘Lando Norris: A Biography’ (2023). He has also covered soccer (Premier League), cricket (Ashes), golf (Ryder Cup) and snooker in his 23-year career as a sports journalist.
Clancy and Hunt are co-hosts of the Formula 1 podcast ‘Inside the Piranha Club’ and will continue in this role in their new roles at Autosport.
