Thanks to the footballers: Dortmund and Bayern play in the eChampions League

Two of three German clubs have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League. They can now also look forward to a starting place in the virtual premier league of EA SPORTS FC 24

This year, it is particularly important for German clubs to perform well in the international competitions. As the Champions League is being increased by four teams to 36, the Bundesliga could get another starting place.

But the results also have a virtual impact. Teams that reach the quarter-finals in the analog competition are allowed to provide one player for the group stage of the eChampions League. Specifically, this applies to Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich. The Black & Yellows won the second leg against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday (1:1, 2:0), while Bayern improved on their first appearance at Lazio Roma and turned the overall result in their favor (0:1, 3:0).

Leipzig’s elimination is doubly bitter

Bitter for RB Leipzig: The Saxons were narrowly eliminated in the round of 16 against Real Madrid (0:1, 1:1), although they were actually the better team in the second encounter. With a little luck, the Red Bulls could have had one of their top players early on. However, the regular route to the Grand Final of the Virtual Bundesliga remains, with four places up for grabs. Whoever advances to the semi-finals of the German individual championship can take part in the group stage of the virtual premier league

Both Gültekin and Rieck have already qualified for the Grand Final. It is not yet known what will happen if a BVB or Bayern player who has already been nominated reaches the semi-finals of the VBL Grand Final. It is also not yet known who the two clubs will definitely send to the eChampions League
