Which teams, cars and drivers will be on the grid in the 2024 DTM season? Our constantly updated overview will keep you up to date

With which starting field will the 2024 DTM season take place in the second year under the management of the ADAC? When officially registering for the championship, the teams had to specify not only their cars but also their drivers, who are now being presented one by one. The season starts at the end of April in Oschersleben (click here for the calendar) and once again comprises eight race weekends. A total of more than 20 vehicles can be expected

In this overview, we show all the teams, drivers and cars that have been confirmed for the 2024 DTM season so far. Important: This is not the final starting grid and not all registered vehicles, but only a list of the vehicles that have been officially announced by the teams themselves so far.

Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing (Vehicle:Mercedes-AMG GT3, Cars: 2, Drivers: Lucas Auer, Maro Engel)

The former HTP Winward is an established force in GT3 racing. Founded in 2013, they won the 24 Hours of Spa in their first year with the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 and the Blancpain Sprint Series title a year later. After a Bentley year, the team returned to Mercedes-AMG in 2016.

In 2019, HTP was taken over by the US Winward team, which is backed by Texan businessman Bryce Ward and his son Russell Ward, who both drive races. The team entered the DTM in 2021 and finished runner-up with Lucas Auer and Winward in 2022. In 2024, they won the 24-hour classic at Daytona for the second time. In the DTM, Maro Engel was brought in to replace David Schumacher for the 2024 season

Mercedes-AMG Team HRT (Vehicle: Mercedes-AMG GT3, Cars: 2, Drivers: Luca Stolz, Arjun Maini)

The main racing team of ex-DTM driver Hubert Haupt has only existed since 2020. Haupt largely took over the successful Mercedes-AMG-backed Black Falcon squad and their GT3 cars. In the very first year, the team scored race wins in the NLS series on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife and in the GT World Challenge Europe.

In 2021, former HWA boss Ulrich Fritz joined the team as Managing Director and the team entered the DTM. And with success, as Maximilian Götz won the championship title for the HRT team in its first GT3 year. In 2022, the team parted ways with the champion and opted for new blood with Luca Stolz and Arjun Maini. The contracts of the two were also extended in 2024

Abt Sportsline (Vehicle: Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, Cars: 2, Drivers: Kelvin van der Linde, Ricardo Feller)

The Abt squad from Kempten was the Audi team par excellence in the DTM for many years and was the first team from Ingolstadt to confirm that it would remain a customer team with two cars. In 2000, the Audi tuner did pioneering work when it made the new DTM unsafe with the privately entered Audi TT and Laurent Aiello – and triggered the Audi works entry in 2004.

Even after the switch to GT3 cars, the team remained loyal to the DTM and fought for the title right to the end with Kelvin van der Linde, who finished third. In 2022, this feat was achieved with returnee Rene Rast, but the team again had to settle for third place. For 2023, the team reduced its DTM commitment to two cars and extended the contracts of Kelvin van der Linde and Ricardo Feller by two years

SSR Performance (vehicle: Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2, cars: 2, drivers: Mirko Bortolotti, Nicki Thiim)

SSR Performance GmbH, which is based in Munich and deals with repairs, maintenance and servicing of sports cars and classic cars on a day-to-day basis, was founded in 2016 by Stefan Schlund – SSR stands for Stefan Schlund Racing. In 2020, the company also set up its own racing team, which cooperates with the successful Porsche Team Manthey, and immediately won the drivers’ and teams’ titles in its debut year in the ADAC GT Masters.

In 2022, they took on a new challenge with the DTM, entered two Porsches and took their first victory with Dennis Olsen. For 2023, the team switched to Lamborghini and finished runner-up with Mirko Bortolotti and as a team. In 2024, they continued to work with the top Lamborghini driver, who was given a new team-mate in Aston Martin loaner Nicki Thiim

Grasser Racing Team (Vehicle: Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2, Cars: 2, Driver: Christian Engelhart, unknown)

The Grasser team of former racing driver Gottfried Grasser, based not far from the Red Bull Ring in Knittelfeld, entered the ADAC GT Masters in 2011 and has relied on the Lamborghini brand since 2012, with works support since 2015. Success quickly followed in other series: the team won the Blancpain GT Series in 2017 and triumphed in the 24-hour classic at Daytona in 2018 and 2019.

2019 was a successful year for the Austrian team in general, as they also won the Twelve Hours of Sebring and finished runner-up in the ADAC GT Masters. Lamborghini works driver Mirko Bortolotti was involved in all the highlights and also drove four cars for the team when it entered the DTM in 2022. He led the championship for a long time and finished fourth. In 2023, the commitment was reduced to two cars, and in 2024, a Lamborghini works driver was brought in again with Christian Engelhart.

Paul Motorsport (vehicle: Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2, cars: 1, driver: Maximilian Paul)

The Paul Motorsport team emerged from the former DTM team T3 Motorsport, which withdrew after the first two DTM weekends with the Lamborghini in 2022 and was disbanded. Head of Engineering Tobias Paul then managed the entries for his son Maximilian Paul with his own racing team in the ADAC GT Masters.

In 2023, Maximilian Paul gave the Grasser team a DTM guest appearance at the Nürburgring and caused a sensation with victory. In 2024, the decision was made to enter the DTM with a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2 so that Paul could contest a full season

Manthey EMA (Vehicle: Porsche 911 GT3 R, Cars: 2, Drivers: Thomas Preining, Ayhancan Güven)

The Manthey team from Meuspath was founded in 1996 by two-time DTM runner-up Olaf Manthey and even competed in the DTM as a Mercedes team for two years in 2001 and 2002. However, the team became particularly well known for its Porsche entries in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring with the so-called “Grello”.

Manthey has been responsible for Porsche’s GT works entries since 2013, but the team founder retired in 2015 and sold 51 percent of the team to Porsche. Following Manthey’s retirement, the company is managed by brothers Nicolas and Martin Raeder. In 2023, the team decided to enter the DTM and immediately won the title with Thomas Preining. They also won the team classification. For 2024, the team again secured the services of the Austrian defending champion.
