Horner affair: Formula 1 hopes for clarification “as quickly as possible”

Formula 1 emphasizes in an official statement that it hopes for a quick clarification in the Christian Horner case – The FIA also issues a brief statement

A few days before the start of official Formula 1 testing ahead of the 2024 season (February 21-23 in Bahrain), the premier class has issued an official statement on the latest developments at Red Bull surrounding Formula 1 team principal Christian Horner

The statement reads: “We are aware that Red Bull has launched an independent investigation into internal allegations at Red Bull Racing.”

“We hope that the matter will be resolved as quickly as possible following a fair and thorough process and will make no further comment at this time.”

Horner’s name is not explicitly mentioned in the statement, but it is obvious that it is about the allegations against the team boss that have been circulating for some time.

The 50-year-old is currently the subject of an investigation initiated by Red Bull GmbH in Austria by an independent investigating lawyer. He is accused of inappropriate behavior towards an employee of the team.

Meanwhile, the FIA also issued a statement on Monday afternoon, saying:

“In relation to the independent investigation currently being conducted by Red Bull GmbH, the FIA reiterates that we will make no further comment until the investigation is complete and the outcome is known.”

“The FIA remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, fairness and inclusivity within the sport.”

Horner himself denies all allegations against him. Last week, he attended the presentation of the Red Bull RB20 for the new Formula 1 season as normal and in his official role as team principal.

During this event, he emphasized in an interview with Sky: “I deny all the accusations that have been made against me. But of course I am cooperating with the investigation, which will hopefully be completed in the near future.”

As things stand at present, it can therefore be assumed that Horner will continue to sit in the Red Bull command post as normal for the tests in Bahrain in a few days’ time, provided no fundamental factors change.

Horner has been team principal of the Red Bull team since the first Red Bull season in 2005 and will be facing his 20th season with the Bulls in 2024
