At the end of his contract: Mbappé leaves PSG in the summer

Kylian Mbappé (25) will no longer play for Paris St. Germain next season. According to several media reports, the French star striker has informed club officials that he wants to leave the club at the end of his contract

The transfer saga surrounding Kylian Mbappé is entering the next round. According to several media reports, it is now at least certain that the French international striker will leave his current club Paris St. Germain this summer. As was announced on Thursday evening, Mbappé has informed the club’s management around president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he does not wish to extend his expiring contract.

Final contract terms are still to be clarified in the coming months, so an official announcement from the club about the impending loss of their most important player is still pending.

Will Real Madrid strike this time?

In recent transfer windows, Mbappé has been repeatedly linked with Real Madrid, and there has been no shortage of interest from the Premier League. A move to the Whites was already imminent in the summer of 2022, but the attacker opted for a contract extension in Paris until 2024, which was costly for PSG. Last summer, Mbappé did not take advantage of a clause for a further extension

Now clubs are likely to be queuing up again, as the most coveted player on the planet is currently available on a free transfer. At least PSG won’t have to pay any money.

In 2017, the French champions transferred around €180 million to league rivals Monaco to secure the services of the then huge talent. Since then, Mbappé has played 254 games for PSG, scoring 206 times. The speedy striker has also been a guarantee of success for the French national team, shooting the Equipe Tricolore to the World Cup title in 2018.
