The French record champions Paris St. Germain could move soon. The reasons are the refusal to buy the Parc des Princes – and their own plans
“Now it’s over, we want to move out,” announced Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President of Paris St. Germain, on Thursday at the UEFA Congress in the French capital. The reason for this turn of events: The city rejected the sale of the prestigious stadium to the rich club this week.
Al-Khelaifi was a little annoyed: “We have wasted years buying the park” – which is therefore necessary to expand the capacity from 48,000 seats to around 60,000 seats. A larger stadium is the president’s goal.
However, with the purchase of the Parc de Princes now off the table, the French champions and league leaders are currently examining the possibility of building their own stadium in the Paris region. PSG, which was founded in 1970, has played its home games at the Parc de Princes since 1974.
