Crazy tennis marathon for German

German tennis ace Christoph Negritu has to complete an incredible workload in Tunisia. He doesn’t have much time to regenerate

While the big tennis stars are currently in the quiet phase of the season, the players outside the top 200 hardly have any time to rest. Christoph Negritu knows this only too well.

The German tennis pro is currently only ranked 677th in the world rankings. At an ITF tournament in Monastir, Tunisia, it was a marathon that was also new for the 29-year-old

So he played six (!) matches within one day. He played the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in the singles and doubles competitions – a real marathon day.

Six matches in one day: German tennis pro has no break

The reason for the large number of matches was the weather conditions in the North African country. It had been raining for days, so the matches had piled up. However, the organizers wanted to crown a winner at all costs, so they came up with this crazy schedule

The native of Central Franconia told the FAZ that he usually stayed on the pitch after his victories and waited for his next opponent. He only had a 20-minute break, during which he only had a few dates and a cappuccino

The effort paid off for Negritu. He collected six world ranking points and 1,650 euros in prize money. Only the tournament victory eluded him, as he lost both finals.
