Richarlison and Kulusevski give Spurs victory at Nottingham

After beating Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur also won in Nottingham and may have put their results drought behind them

Spurs coach Ange Postecoglou saw no reason to make any changes after the 4-1 win over Newcastle. Accordingly, he sent out the same starting eleven. They did well again from the start. Son should have given the visitors from London the lead after just two minutes. Ten minutes later, the South Korean found himself in a promising position again, but instead of shooting, he opted for a clearance – the wrong decision (12′).

Gradually, the Tricky Trees also got into the game better. However, Elanga failed to beat Vicario (20). It went back and forth in this phase. Johnson for Spurs (23′) and Kouyaté for Nottingham (26′) both missed the lead.

Richarlison and Kulusevski score

The game then flattened out somewhat. Pedro Porro, who showed with his header why he is a right-back and not a predestined header player in the box (35′), had the best opportunity in this phase. Just before the break, however, the north Londoners took the lead: Kulusevski found Richarlison, who headed in to make it 1-0 (45.+2).

The second half almost brought the equalizer, but Elanga was clearly offside when he scored – after a VAR review it was taken back accordingly. Instead of 1:1, it was 0:2 a few minutes later: Kulusevski took advantage of a mistake by goalkeeper Turner forced by Son (65′).

Nottingham fail to score

Tottenham wanted to play out the game with the lead behind them, but then they weakened themselves. Bissouma was shown a straight red for a rough tackle (70′), which naturally gave the hosts renewed hope. Nottingham went on the attack and created chances, but the goal would not come because both Spurs goalkeeper Vicario and the post had something against them. Williams (84, 90+7) and Tofollo had the most notable chances

Both teams have eight days until their next game. Spurs host Everton and Nottingham Bournemouth next Saturday (4pm).
