Champion Ulm loose and easy in Hamburg – Heidelberg gets first win

The Veolia Towers Hamburg clearly lost out to the undefeated champions from Ulm. Heidelberg stopped the downward trend against promoted Tübingen. Ludwigsburg lost out against Bonn.

Champion ratiopharm Ulm remains on course for success early this season with a spotless record and the fourth win in the fourth game. The Swabians won 94-78 in Hamburg on Saturday. Five players from the visitors scored in double figures on the Elbe, the Towers remain in the bottom of the table with a win.

Telekom Baskets Bonn moved away from there with a 91-86 win in Ludwigsburg. The Champions League winners (2-2) had their top scorer in newcomer Frey (24 points). The Rhinelanders laid the foundation for the victory in the Barockstadt with a strong first quarter (22:11). The onslaught of the Giants was ultimately not crowned with success.

Schroeder’s Lions lose

The Würzburg Baskets (2:1) also picked up their second win of the season in an 84-76 defeat of Schröder’s Braunschweig club. The Lions (2-2) slipped behind the Mainfranken, who turned the game around after a weak start and had the best point scorer in Washington (19).

The fourth game was a duel of two Neckar rivals. Up-and-coming Tübingen welcomed Heidelberg, previously winless, and lost 84-94. Even Jackson’s scoring gala (26) for the home side couldn’t prevent the defeat, which the Academics prepared in Q2 with an intermediate spurt.
