Bonn’s basketball players miss out on the title at the Intercontinental Cup in Singapore. And that in a very bitter way.
The Telekom Baskets Bonn narrowly missed out on the title at the Fiba Intercontinental Cup. Last season’s Champions League winners narrowly lost 69-70 (34-34) to Sesi Franca Basquete of Brazil in the final in Singapore on Sunday. The German runner-up already looked like the winner. But then the South Americans scored with the last throw to win after the referees had set the game clock to 1.4 seconds after studying the video.
Before that, the team of new coach Roel Moors had won its games against Al Manama from Bahrain and the Chinese club Zhejiang Golden Bulls quite clearly and had hardly been challenged. Against Sesi Franca, Glynn Watson was the best scorer with 16 points. The champions of the continental associations took part in the competition.
