Barcelona partnership renewed: Camp Nou remains exclusive in eFootball

FC Barcelona will remain a partner of Konami, the developer has announced a “multi-year contract extension”. As such, the Camp Nou will not be returning to EA SPORTS FC 24 – but will remain exclusive to eFootball

The EA reboot after the FIFA split as well as the purchase of the naming rights to La Liga had recently fuelled rumours that the Spotify Camp Nou could return to EA SPORTS FC 24. This is not the case, at least in a fully licensed version: FC Barcelona is renewing its partnership with Konami, and the Spanish champion’s stadium will therefore remain exclusive to eFootball.

In addition, according to the press release, the Japanese developer secured “ numerous rights” with the club such as “access to players, media presence and participation in events”. The cooperation between Barça and Konami has already existed since the 2016/17 season. The Catalans compete in the eFootball Championship Pro, the regular season of which they last won – in the semi-finals of the knockout phase they were defeated by FC Bayern Munich.

Trio of legends for the Dream Teams

“It is very exciting to announce the extension of such a successful partnership,” says Naoki Morita, Konami Digital Entertainment B.V.’s European President. “FC Barcelona is truly one of the giants of world football. We are proud to have them as part of the eFootball series now and for years to come thanks to this extension. “

In the game, the continued collaboration will be celebrated with an in-game campaign. Players will get the opportunity to strengthen their Dream Teams with three Blaugrana legends: Rivaldo, Patrick Kluivert and Javier Saviola. The trio of ex-professionals will be available as epic cards between 10 and 17 August.

“Konami is an institution in video games and will help us form new synergies with a young audience and continue to explore opportunities in digital entertainment, a key sector for the expansion of our brand in the coming years,” said Juli Guiu, vice president of marketing at FC Barcelona.
