Multi-year contract: Mitch Evans extends with Jaguar in Formula E

Jaguar has long-term plans with Mitch Evans in Formula E and has signed the New Zealander to a multi-year contract

Jaguar and Mitch Evans will continue their long-term collaboration in the Formula E World Championship until 2024 and beyond. The British racing team made the announcement today after signing a new multi-year contract with the 29-year-old New Zealander.

Evans has been driving for the British marque’s factory team since Jaguar entered Formula E in 2016. 2024 will be his eighth season for Jaguar. No other driver-team pairing in Formula E has lasted this long.

During this time, the New Zealander developed into one of the most successful drivers in Formula E. For Jaguar, he scored ten wins, 25 podiums, six pole positions, eight fastest laps and 733 world championship points. In 2022, he was runner-up in the world championship. In 2023, he was also in the title fight until the season finale and finished third overall.

“We are delighted to confirm that Mitch will continue to play a key role in the Jaguar team for the 2024 season and beyond,” said Team Principal James Barclay. “He was one of the founding members of the team when Jaguar returned to international motorsport in 2016 and is now one of the longest serving drivers in Jaguar’s racing history.”

“The fact that we are staying together for a new chapter is a distinction we are very proud of. Mitch has shown time and time again that he is one of the most talented drivers around and we are very happy that our partnership will continue. I’m looking forward to building on our successes to date and tackling the challenges of further championships together,” Barclay continued.

“I have been a part of Jaguar since 2016. So it was a natural choice to continue our successful relationship,” commented Evans on the contract extension. “We’ve had some incredible moments over the past seven years and I’m looking forward to writing our next chapter together.”

The 2024 Formula E season, which will feature 17 races in total, kicks off on 13 January in Mexico City.
