FC Bayern will have to do without Kingsley Coman until further notice. The attacking player injured himself in training on Friday.
It was the worst news Julian Nagelsmann had brought to the press conference on Friday for the fans of FC Bayern: Kingsley Coman will miss his team for the time being.
“King injured himself in training today, he’s in the tube right now,” Nagelsmann reported the day before the home match against VfB Stuttgart. It was “something muscular”, said the coach: “It doesn’t look so good. I hope it’s just a fibre tear in inverted commas and nothing worse”, such as a muscle bundle tear.
This “hope” has now been confirmed. As Bayern announced after the examination, Coman has torn a muscle fibre in his right, rear thigh and will be out “for the time being”.
Whether Coman will be ready for action again after the two-week international break, which starts after the Bundesliga weekend after next, is questionable. The 26-year-old Frenchman, who started the season with a suspension, had been in the starting eleven in each of the past three Bundesliga games and in Wednesday’s Champions League opener at Inter Milan (2-0).
