Nigel Mansell launches official NFT collection from Motorsport Multiverse

Nigel Mansell, the 1992 Formula One World Champion, is now offering fans unique digital collectibles on the new Motorsport Multiverse platform

Nigel Mansell, 1992 Formula One World Champion, is releasing a collection of official NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens; non-exchangeable unit of value) on the new Motorsport Multiverse platform to mark the 30th anniversary of his World Championship title.

These are officially licensed digital replicas of real racing memorabilia. Motorsport Multiverse offers an exciting new way to experience, share and stay connected with favourite drivers, the racing community and the spirit of racing.

Revered by his home fans in the UK and nicknamed “Il Leone” (the Lion) by the tifosi in Italy during his Ferrari days, Mansell’s unmistakable fighting spirit and equally unmistakable speed have taken him to 31 Grand Prix victories.

These include four British Grand Prix triumphs. The victories in 1986 (Brands Hatch) and 1987 (Silverstone) with Williams-Honda are among the most famous and exciting races of the 1980s.

The 1991 Silverstone victory, after which Mansell drove his arch-rival Ayrton Senna back to the pits, is commemorated by an NFT. Mansell recently sold the original car, the Williams FW14, at RM Sotheby’s auction in Monaco.

For fans interested in one of Mansell’s digital collectibles, there are a range of options from high quality NFTs of Mansell’s racing helmets,

Many NFTs include an original video of Mansell explaining the story behind the items and images. The Motorsport Multiverse platform was developed by Motorsport Images in collaboration with Artema Labs, specialists in digital collectibles.

With sustainability in mind, Motorsport Multiverse uses a proprietary blockchain design. This novel architecture is energy efficient and ensures a lower carbon footprint. At the same time, it significantly reduces gas charges and increases transaction speed.

In addition, the incorporation of a state-of-the-art security infrastructure and dynamic asset control enables the introduction of groundbreaking new features.

“I am very excited to release my official collection of NFTs on Motorsport Multiverse and hope fans around the world will enjoy it,” said Mansell. “I’ve always been interested in new technology and everyone knows about my special connection with fans. NFTs offer the chance to own something rare. Fans enjoy collecting and trading them. “

James Allen, Chairman of Motorsport Images, says: “Fan engagement in motorsport is evolving rapidly. We recognise the need to provide fans with high quality NFTs. This is a market with a long-term future.”

“We all love Nigel Mansell and what better way to launch our project than with official NFTs produced with Nigel to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his dominant 1992 World Championship title?” said Allen.

Commenting on the NFT, which commemorates the scene at Silverstone in 1991, Allen says: “The ‘taxi ride’ he gave Senna on the side box of his car is one of Formula One’s legendary moments. That moment also showcased Nigel’s sportsmanship and the respect between the two great champions.”
