Wimbledon fan sues Kyrgios after slur attack

Tennis pro Nick Kyrgios could have to pay dearly for one of his infamous slurs. The spectator, about whom the Australian had vehemently ranted during and after losing the Wimbledon final to Novak Djokovic (“700 drinks”), filed a lawsuit for libel.

In the statement released by her lawyers, Anna Palus wrote of a “reckless and completely unfounded accusation against me”.

Not only had this led to her being temporarily expelled from the stadium, the plaintiff wrote: “Mr Kyrgios’ false allegations have been seen or read by millions of people around the world, causing significant harm to me and my family.” She said she wanted to donate the possible damages to charity.

Kyrgios had been disturbed by the spectator during his defeat in the final, calling her drunk. “I’ve been out a few nights in my life and I knew she had too much. I told the referee, ‘She talks to me a lot and she’s drunk.’ What are you going to do about it? “
