24h Dubai 2022: These ADAC GT Masters participants are taking part

Numerous drivers and teams from the German GT Championship will be lining up at the 24 Hours of Dubai this weekend: Debut of the BMW M4 GT3

Also in 2022, many ADAC GT Masters competitors are escaping winter in Europe to compete in the Dubai 24 Hours this week (13-15 January). The Creventic 24h Series event in the United Arab Emirates has been the big season opener for international endurance and GT racing for many years.

A lot of eyes will be on the Schubert team this year. The racing team from Oschersleben is the first customer team in the world to bring the new BMW M4 GT3 to the start of a race.

One of the drivers will be Nick Yelloly, who was Schubert’s regular driver in the 2021 German GT Championship. Team boss Torsten Schubert will also be taking to the wheel in person – albeit not at the wheel of a GT3 car, but in a BMW M2 CS Racing.

Two cars each from WRT and Car Collection, three Herberth Porsches

From the camp of the Audi teams, the Belgian WRT squad as well as Car Collection are represented in the field with two R8 LMS each. Rolf Ineichen and Mirko Bortolotti, who drove for Grasser in the 2021 ADAC GT Masters, will start in Dubai with a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 fielded by the British team Barwell.

Herberth Motorsport is also traditionally well represented in the 24h Series. The racing team from Jedenhofen is fielding three Porsche 911 GT3 R cars, each of which is also manned by familiar faces from the ADAC GT Masters.

Robert Renauer and his brother Alfred will start in the 93. Klaus Bachler, who had driven for Herbert in the 2021 ADAC GT Masters, will pilot a GT3 Porsche of the Italian racing team Dinamic Motorsport. Also from the Porsche camp at the start in Dubai: Team Joos with driver Jannes Fittje.

Mercedes-AMG “dream team” Engel/Stolz are separated

For once, the Toksport-WRT duo Maro Engel and Luca Stolz will not be competing together on the same car at Mercedes-AMG. Stolz will be driving HRT’s 75 include last year’s Zakspeed driver Jules Gounon. In HRT’s second Mercedes, team owner Hubert Haupt is joined on the driving wheel by Raffaele Marciello.

Team ID Racing, the new team of Iris Dorr, who managed MRS-GT Racing until shortly before the end of the 2021 season, also comes from the ADAC GT Masters. Her new racing team is fielding two latest-generation Cup Porsches in Dubai.

And the entry list for the GT4 class also features good acquaintances from the ADAC GT Masters: Hugo Sasse and Mike David Ortmann, who raced Lamborghini cars last season, will be driving an Aston Martin there for the former ADAC GT Masters racing team ProSport.
