Referee corps' stands for cock':' Nijhuis makes its own rules'.

Last weekend there was a lot to do about the performances of the various referees in the Eredivisie. Serdar Gözübübüyük, Bas Nijhuis and Danny Makkelie received a lot of criticism on their flutes. Dick Jol and Mario van der Ende note that the arbitrators have set different standards and whistle inconsequentially, which makes players, trainers and supporters frustrated.

Look, each referee has his own style. There is nothing wrong with that in itself. But this is a completely different discussion,”says Jol in conversation with the Algemeen Dagblad. The former arbitrator observes that the referees within the same band’ whistle completely different’.” This cannot be explained to trainers, players and audience.

Jol says he also loved masculine football, but that a violation was just an offence against him,”It’s not a discussion that started last weekend either. Nijhuis has been doing things differently from the others for years. That is simply not acceptable. The referee corps stands for nothing like that. But worse: it also affects the title race.

Van der Ende agrees with the words of Jol and states that it is a utopia to think that all referees whistle in the same way, also because of the difference in quality. Nijhuis has been making its own rules for many seasons. The Eredivisie must not become a tombola in which we have to wait every week to see how the referee’s decisions turn out.

Do you understand the criticism of Bas Nijhuis?
