Novak Djokovic Defeats Nishikori In The Finals Of The Rogers Cup!!!

Novak Djokovic has done it again…Another title won….

This time, Novak Djokovic has won the Masters in Toronto – the Rogers Cup.

Djokovic entered the tournament after a month of not playing, which was noticeable in his wins against Miller, Stepanek and Berdych. He slowly started picking up his form during the semi-finals against Gael Monfils, defeating the Frenchman in straight sets (6:3 and 6:2).

Novak Djokovic Defeats Nishikori In The Finals Of The Rogers Cup!!!After a rather easy match against Monfils, Djokovic qualified for the Final match where he was facing Kai Nishikori.The 26 year old Japanese, who is currently ranked as the 6th player on the ATP list, performed some great tennis in the opening set, yet he was unable to prevent the loss of the first set 7:5.

During the second set, Nishikori had no chance against the No 1. Tennis player, Djokovic, who seems to be catching his best form, just days away from the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

This was Djokovics 4th title at the Rogers Cup, which is alternately hosted in Montreal and Toronto. This was also Novak’s the 9th straight win over Nishikori, in less than 2 years. Now their mutual record is 10:2 in favor of Djokovic.

During the 2016 season, Novak has defeated Nishikori firstly at the quarter finals of the Australian Open with 3:0 in sets. Then in the Final match of the Miami Masters, and in the semi-finals of Madrid, Novak has defeated Nishikori with 2:0. At the Rome semi-finals, Novak, once again, defeated the Japanese with 2:1 in sets.

This was the 30th title for the No. 1 tennis player at the Masters tournaments. He also leads this category, as Rafael Nadal won 28 and Roger Federer „only“ 24. The next active player on this list is Andy Murray as he won a total of 12 Masters titles.
